Poi Combo Class: Funky Foot Flow

Want to feel more freedom with your movements on the dance floor while twirling your poi? Looking for more flow between moves? Need to integrate recently acquired skills into performance flow with moves in your comfort zone? Then join us for three nights this fall where you can explore creating something unique.

Each student brings 6+ moves or combinations to the class and GlitterGirl will then put the moves together into a flow that’s unique to those moves in that class. The combination will be created on the fly and for students with more advanced moves, advanced combo modifications will also be taught. GlitterGirl will then teach the combination. Generally, we complete 2 combinations that can then be strung together to form a flow that lasts between 60-90 seconds, depending on the tempo and number of repetitions per move.

Each class is independent so students may easily drop in on any session.

Note: Be prepared to execute at least 6 or more moves you’d like to add to a combination. Even if you can’t name the move, if you can demonstrate it, we can consider using it in the flow.

Sessions will run 8 pm Mondays at Lines Ballet (26 7th Street, 5th floor, studio 4). Session date:

  • December 15, 2014

Tuition is one of the following:

  • $30 cash at the door per night drop-in if space allows or
  • 1 intermediate credit on the beginner boot camp package for each night attended or
  • best value: pay $18.82 a session when you join the Fall 2014 Poi Intermediate Boot Camp

This class only!

Provide your $30 tuition (non refundable but transferrable with 8 days notice) to register now!

Here’s an example of a short flow created through a session like this.

Some scholarships available, though students seeking scholarship are strongly encouraged to consider our Fall 2014 Intermediate Boot Camp Program as that is below our scholarship rate. Please inquire with GlitterGirl directly (GlitterGirl <that fancy little at symbol> TempleOfPoi <daaaaaaauuuuuught> com) for details.

This is a mixed level class covering short poi movements on the inside plane horizontally and vertically, as well as long arm movements including lots of variations on:

  • buzzsaws – same and opposite direction, plane shifting, with stalls and taps
  • corkscrews – including the inside plane 4 beat in same direction
  • giant – in same and opposite direction
  • giant swivels – in same and opposite directions
  • buzz saw fountains – same and opposite direction with extensions and without
  • and more!

This class is loads of fun and is highly recommended for advanced beginner and intermediate students who want to take their skills to the next level and add some fun combinations perfect for practice at indoor tight spaces. This is the first of the classes in the Fall 2014 Poi Intermediate Boot Camp.

This class will be held in a huge studio with high ceilings. The series is a mixed level class where we will start with a basic concept and continue to build on it throughout each class and the series overall. Students are invited to take the class at their own pace and we adjust the material to accommodate each student’s needs. This series will continue to expand on the concepts by working with turns and combinations that integrate the recently acquired moves.

As a reminder, this and all classes at Temple of Poi are taught with the Flowology Mindset practiced rigorously.
